JOB DESCRIPTION:
· Recruits, hires, develops, and mentors service technicians of all skill levels.
· Provides guidance and training in the field to technicians, through site visits and ride-alongs.
· Coordinates product training sessions, new hire and recertification training, and other meetings to ensure timely, transparent communication with the technician team.
· Manages service van and warehouse inventory, including spot audits and annual reconciliation.
· Provides oral and written productivity, quality control, and performance feedback.
· Approves technician payroll hours, and acts as a backup to the Service Office Manager.
· In conjunction with the Service Office Manager:
o Oversees the efficient scheduling and dispatching of technicians to various types of calls (installations, tune-ups, emergency or same-day service, and other routine service work), setting the standard for the quality and timeliness of response to customer needs through effective planning.
o Creates operating and on-call schedules.
o Reviews and approves accurate, timely department billing.
o Generates and analyzes month-end and ad hoc Service Department reporting (productivity, call backs, profitability, inventory, and quality control).
o Reviews department financial statements and participates in annual budget preparation.
o Purchases, prices, and maintains inventory for equipment and replacement parts.
o Audits previous workday’s completed work orders, offering coaching and counseling to technicians as needed.
o Maintains service inventory in ADDS.
o Reinforces safety messaging, including facilitating the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment and driving staff to adhere to safety protocols.
· Maintains municipal/county licensing as required by law for the department.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Residential Services.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess – or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire – appropriate licensing in Nassau and Suffolk Counties and New York City. Westchester-area licensing would also be an advantage.
Minimum of five years technical experience in HVAC, including design, installation, maintenance, and repair of oil-fired equipment. Natural gas or propane experience may be considered.
NORA certification, particularly Silver or Gold-level, highly desirable.
EPA 608 universal certificate highly desirable.
Leadership experience strongly preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid New York State Driver’s License, to be maintained for the duration of employment. Class A or B CDL, with tanker and hazmat endorsements, preferred but not required.
Proficiency in Windows computers, Microsoft Office, and other basic applications. ADDS proficiency preferred but not required.
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, on-call shifts, and incident response.
Willingness to commute between our facilities in Brooklyn, NY and Calverton, NY, as well as to job sites. Office location is negotiable.
